ArtRage 2.5

Beg

Just installed the twenty-five dollar upgrade to ArtRage 2 called ArtRage 2.5. Not sure I needed the metallic feature, but I do like the layers and the airbrush feature. Called this one "Beg" because somewhere under the layers I stenciled the word "BEG." Not sure if it is still visable or not. I like the ideas of layers because the oils tend to mix too much for me. If I like something, I can add a layer and not have the original messed with. So far, I love the pallet knife feature the most. Blending without adding new color is terrific.

Downloaded ArtRage 2

Abstract 1

Abstract 2

My first trys at ArtRage 2. I downloaded the free version, tried it out, and got my credit card out for the 25 dollar upgrade. It is different than the Disney paint software. I like it. This is more like painting, while the Disney is more like mixed media drawing. I like them both.

The format is more rectangular, but I can open the Disneys in ArtRage. I am sure I will be able to do the same in reverse since I can save in bitmap as well as jpegs. I will need to change the name of my site.

Dragon

Dragon

Drew a dragon shape tonight. Started with some texture features on the bottom corner of the drawing board on Disney's Magic Artist Studio software. I kept picking different textures and ended up with a black, red, and yellow background. I added some large, dark marker lines and layered the red pastels on top, while spraying the light blue and blue-greens on the dragon's body with pastels. The eye is a simple layering of consecutively smaller and smaller pencil colors. I usually stay away from such literal features such as eyes in my work, but this one felt more whimsical than my usual stuff.

New Digital Art

Hidden

Lion

Here are a couple of very recent digital artworks; they were done tonight -- a few minutes ago. "Hidden" was done first eventhough it looks like it has more things going on. I went back to an earlier version, wiped out an area with white, then brought the lion profile out for "Lion." I like the way they look together.

It feels good to start creating images again. It has been too long.
